Armstrong Scheduled Versus Actual Release
A projected, tentative, or scheduled date is an estimate or administrative target before custody ends. The actual release date records an event that already occurred. Armstrong County has no public jail date calculator or online roster with a future date field. More importantly, the public PA DOC Inmate/Parolee Locator does not show a projected or tentative release date for a person who remains incarcerated. It can show an actual “Release Date” for a person in the department-supervised population, such as a parolee.
Pretrial detainees have no sentence-based release date. Bail may authorize release, but staff must still complete processing and check for other holds. A dismissal or court order creates legal authority, not proof of the physical exit time. For a sentenced person, the order may state a minimum and maximum. The minimum commonly opens parole eligibility in a state case. It does not compel release. The maximum is the ordinary sentence endpoint, subject to lawful credit and later action.
The most useful answer names both the date and its source. “The order states a minimum date” is precise. “DOC lists an actual Release Date” describes a past state-prison event. “The jail record shows county custody ended by transfer” prevents transfer from being mistaken for freedom in the community.
Find Armstrong Projected Release Dates
Start by identifying the last authority that held the person. Armstrong County Jail houses pretrial detainees and local-sentence prisoners. A person sent to a state sentence can leave the county jail by transport and later enter a state correctional institution. No SCI is located in Armstrong County, so a state-sentenced person may appear elsewhere in Pennsylvania after intake and classification.
- Search the Pennsylvania UJS Case Search by participant or docket and limit the result to Armstrong County. Review bail, disposition, sentence, commitment, and credit entries.
- Decide whether the record reflects pretrial custody, a local county sentence, or a state commitment. Do not use an arrest date as the start of a sentence calculation.
- For a county term, contact Armstrong County Jail at 724-545-9222 and the Clerk of Courts. Ask for the commitment, sentence order, credit record, and records sufficient to show the actual release when it occurs.
- For a state term, use the PA DOC locator to confirm present institution or parole status. Check both the incarcerated and department-supervised populations.
- If the exact state calculation is disputed, obtain the sentencing order and an agency sentence-status calculation. The public locator cannot resolve every credit, consecutive term, or recommitment issue.
The Armstrong County released-inmate records path provides the separate process for obtaining the physical county release or transfer record. That record answers when jail custody ended and where the person went. It should be paired with the court order, which explains the legal basis but may not show the minute processing ended.
Note: A blank DOC result does not prove release because a county-only sentence may never enter Pennsylvania state corrections.
Armstrong DOC Release Date Fields
The official application is called the Inmate/Department Supervised Individual Locator. DOC says it is updated daily. A last name or inmate number can begin the search, and an inmate number is best when available. Optional filters should be used with care because some descriptive data may have been self-reported. Search the incarcerated side and supervised side separately.
The live interface can include inmate number, parole number, name, birth date, age, gender, height, citizenship, committing county, current and permanent location, state, Release Date, Last Updated Time, and District Office. A result may also identify a parole absconder. These fields help match identity and status. None creates a public projected-release field for a currently incarcerated person.
| Date term | What it means | Best source |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum sentence date | Ordinary state parole-eligibility milestone | Sentence order and DOC calculation |
| RRRI minimum | Possible earlier eligibility milestone for a certified eligible person | Order, statute, and DOC certification |
| Maximum sentence date | Ordinary endpoint of the unexpired term, subject to lawful change | Order and agency calculation |
| Review month | Board review point, not a release promise | Board Action or Decision |
| Release Date | Historical departure from state institutional custody shown for some supervised records | DOC locator and agency record |
| Jail release timestamp | Operational end of Armstrong County Jail custody | County release or movement record |
The official DOC locator description explains the system and its limits. The locator is useful for current status, but a formal date dispute belongs with the order, credit record, and agency calculation.
The captured official PA DOC locator page documents the statewide search channel.
This view identifies the state source and its limits; it does not add a projected date field that the live public locator does not provide.
Pennsylvania Armstrong Sentence Dates
Pennsylvania generally uses indeterminate state sentences with a minimum and maximum. Under 42 Pa.C.S. § 9756, the court ordinarily sets a minimum that does not exceed one-half of the maximum, subject to exceptions. The minimum opens possible parole consideration. It does not guarantee a favorable Board vote. If parole is granted, the unexpired sentence is normally served in the community until the maximum unless later action changes status.
There is no blanket Pennsylvania rule requiring every incarcerated person to serve 85 percent of the maximum before parole release. Applying that national rule of thumb would be wrong. The calculation begins with the actual judicial order, controlling Pennsylvania statutes, and valid credit. Offense-specific exclusions and special sentence rules can matter.
Credit for qualifying custody is addressed by 42 Pa.C.S. § 9760. Pre-sentence detention and custody tied to more than one charge can raise allocation questions. Consecutive terms run one after another, while concurrent terms run together as ordered. A simple subtraction from the arrest date can therefore produce a false result.
Armstrong RRRI Release Eligibility
The Recidivism Risk Reduction Incentive, or RRRI, is a possible earlier eligibility structure for some Pennsylvania state cases. It is not universal good time and does not assure release. Under 61 Pa.C.S. Chapter 45, an eligible judicial minimum of three years or less can produce an RRRI minimum at three-fourths of that minimum. A minimum above three years can produce a five-sixths RRRI minimum. Partial days round as the statute directs, and consecutive terms aggregate.
Eligibility has substantial exclusions. The statute addresses violent conduct, certain weapons matters, crimes of violence or personal injury, specified sexual and registration offenses, defined drug-trafficking history, and pending matters that can cause ineligibility. The exact conviction and statutory definitions must be reviewed. A short checklist is not enough.
Even an eligible date depends on DOC certification. The process can include assessment, a program plan, successful completion, conduct, reentry work, continued eligibility, conditions, and public-safety review. The Parole Board still makes the release decision. Short Sentence Parole under 61 Pa.C.S. § 6137.1 is another distinct state route for qualifying shorter commitments, with its own exclusions. Neither program should be used to calculate a local Armstrong County jail sentence.
Armstrong County Sentence Calculations
No Armstrong County jail good-time formula, weekend-release rule, public calculator, or published local computation method was found in the official sources tested. County sentences with maximums below two years can involve local parole or sentencing-court mechanisms. The specific commitment and court order control. A state RRRI formula cannot be imported into this local setting.
Ask the Clerk of Courts for the sentencing record and any filed credit terms. The Clerk handles Common Pleas criminal records. Matters at the Magisterial District Judge level belong to the respective district court. Then ask the jail for existing records that show how it applied the commitment and when custody ended. Telephone staff may provide limited confirmation, while an exact written record may require a narrow Right-to-Know request.
A person held before trial may become releasable after bail or another order, yet a detainer can keep or transfer that person. A detainer is a hold or request from another authority. It can turn what looks like county release into transfer to another county, PA DOC, federal custody, or ICE. Always identify the receiving authority when recorded.
Note: Armstrong County publishes no routine release hour or weekend schedule, so call before travel and follow current jail directions.
Why Armstrong Release Dates Change
A projected milestone can move when the source record changes or a later decision intervenes. The reason should be named rather than guessed. Compare the newest sentencing order, DOC calculation, Board Action, and custody record. Keep the date checked because public interfaces and case status can update.
| Factor | Possible effect | Record to check |
|---|---|---|
| Sentence correction or resentencing | Changes the controlling term | Newest court order |
| Custody-credit allocation | Changes operative minimum or maximum calculations | Credit record and agency calculation |
| Consecutive or concurrent terms | Changes the aggregate sentence | Sentencing orders |
| Parole grant, denial, or rescission | Changes whether or when state institutional release may occur | Board Action or Decision |
| Program certification or misconduct | Can affect an eligibility route or planned movement | DOC and Board record |
| Detainer or home-plan approval | Can delay release or redirect custody | Agency hold and plan record |
| Recommitment | Returns a parolee to custody and can create a later review point | Board decision and DOC calculation |
A parole grant can precede physical exit by days or longer because programming, a home plan, detainers, or other conditions remain. Rescission means a grant was withdrawn before release. A later review month after recommitment is not a promised date. These distinctions explain many apparent conflicts without converting any interim date into a guarantee.
Confirm Armstrong Actual Release Dates
Confirm a county event with Armstrong County Jail and the underlying movement or release record. Confirm a state-prison event with PA DOC’s actual Release Date and the agency record. PA SAVIN can send notice of release, transfer, escape, or death, but an alert reflects a source feed and is not a certified archive. The Armstrong VINELink Release Check explains the specific-person search and PIN registration process.
Use the source boundary in the final conclusion. A court order proves authority. A Board grant proves a parole decision. A DOC Release Date supports institutional release into the status shown. A county release record proves when Armstrong custody ended and whether the event was outright release or transfer. No one source should be forced to answer all four questions.
